I won second place in a small graphics contest! That might not seem significant — second place is just top loser, after all — but I’m a word guy. Graphics aren’t as easy for me as prose can sometimes (occasionally) be. I’m working to improve my visual imagination and I set this contest as a little exercise for myself, so second place is cool by me.
The contest was about redesigning/repurposing a logo:
We are looking for the most creative, most fitting, most original image editing. At least 50% of the original must be showing.
Here’s the original:
The original
And now my entry, followed by the winner.
Here’s mine:
And here’s the winner:

Gratz man, hope u get 1st next time
.
Your’s is better. You can barely see the logo in the winner.
Great job. You’re so good with the words. Can we handle you being good with images as well? I know I’d be up for tying.
Who judged these things? Yours is clearly superior to the winner. Hmf.
Clearly the winner was violating the rules. At least 50% of the original was not present. In addition, they were using the same scare tactics that they are trying to fight. We do our cause no justice by stooping to their level.
I do like Rob’s, but I agree with the placement. When I saw the second poster (first place), I couldn’t help but laugh, the quick association of Ms. Gallagher and NOM suddenly fleshed in green fur.
Yeah, I think yours is the better design, and congrats on second place!
