I know a member of the Prop 8 legal team.  Before the trial even began, he said David Boies was slaughtering the other side’s witnesses during pre-trial depositions.  One of them reached the point of saying something like, “I’m so flustered I can’t even think!”  I wasn’t surprised, then, that their witnesses started withdrawing from the case, and I knew they lying when they claimed it was because they feared retaliation from teh gays.

I saw my friend’s description confirmed when our side called one of those hostile witnesses (William Tam) to the stand anyway, and used him to make our case.  And when Boies cross-examined the other side’s star witness (David Blankenhorn) during the trial, Boies got him to admit the benefits of marriage equality, along with the lack of evidence for harm.

I’ve always wanted to see those pre-trial massacres.  I doubt that’ll ever happen, but in this video Boies tells us how he tied those witnesses up in knots with just a few simple questions.  You’ve got to watch it.
