Those crazy state Republicans officials are at it again. The Montana GOP platform says:
We support the clear will of the people of Montana expressed by legislation to keep homosexual acts illegal.
So much wrong with this. You can’t “keep” something illegal that isn’t illegal. The US Supreme Court struck down all sodomy laws, and the state’s Supreme Court knocked Montana’s own such law. But that’s too obvious. My attention landed on the phrase “clear will of the people of Montana.” I tried to find a Montana poll on the issue. Couldn’t. I did, however, learn this about people in the state (all figures are approximate):
- Over 50% believe your same-sex partner should have the right to adopt your child, should you wish.
- 57% believe in health insurance benefits for same-sex partners.
- 62% believe in protecting gays and lesbians from job discrimination.
- 67% believe gays and lesbians should be covered by hate crime protections.
- 74% believe in protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination in housing.

Of course, these Republicans have a loophole: “the clear will of the people of Montana expressed by legislation.” Ah, so legislation expresses the clear will of the people. Funny how our opponents don’t buy that when legislatures legalize gay marriage (“we need a direct vote by the people!”). Mm hmm.
It’s almost as if the platform writers have a psychological disorder that keeps them from seeing the truth when it comes to gays and lesbians. Wish there was a name for that. Anyway, I opened this by referring to “those crazy state Republicans.” I didn’t mean crazy as in those crazy kids. I meant crazy as in complete and crazy break from reality.
I believe you already have the word you want.

In Idaho they’ve gone even further. “The platform also called for marriage to be limited to a “naturally born” man and woman, going the extra mile beyond conventional gay marriage bans and making sure to exclude transgendered folks, as well.”

Texas isn’t any better… imagine creating a law that would throw red heads in prison if they didn’t dye their hair a different color. The GOP platforms of these two states (Montana and Texas) are crazy to the point of being dangerous, fascist and definitely anti-American, in the true sense of the word. With any luck, the Republican Party will get back to their original platform of limited government and personal freedom (i.e. stop telling people who they can and can’t marry and stop telling women what they can and can’t do with their bodies).
You can’t make this stuff up! This is so hateful and disgusting. Why should they CARE if a loving couple wants to marry. Who are they harming? I didn’t marry my spouse to make some political or sociological point. I married her because I love her! But crazies like these are determined to make something disgusting even out of human love and commitment.
I wonder if the Rethuglicans have gone beyond the point of being able to get back to their original platform. The religious fanatics seem to have a stranglehold on them these days.
Do straight folks not realize that if they criminalize sodomy, that HETEROSEXUAL sex will become ‘illegal’ as well?
Are straight people really willing to give up the oral and anal sex that THEY engage in in MUCH higher numbers than the gay citizens they seek to abuse?
Talk about a bunch of spoiled brats! Looks like they are going to take BOTH their BALLS and leave the playground, or, um, bedroom…
