Openly gay actor John Barrowman worked with the BBC to explore how gay he is and why. Here he is getting the results of his brain scans.
Can we get some of those self-proclaimed “ex-gays” to take this test? Seriously.

I think that even ex-gays say that the same-sex attraction never changes–only the ability (with the help of Jesus) to resist them.
It was fun seeing a gay man saying “I was so afraid you were going to say that I was straight,” as though that was the worst thing in the world could happen to him. The shoe was on the other foot, for a change.
But it does bring the entire “being gay is a choice” debate onto a more reasonable and scientific level. Maybe “living the gay lifestyle” (whatever exactly that means) remains a “choice”, but “being” gay (at least from a certain age onward) is clearly more biology than choice.
I am afraid this will just raise the spectre of “gay seduction” once more, as homophobes have to shift their argument to keep the blame in the queer quarter.
However I remain firm that the debate itself, and engaging in it, remains homophobic by itself, even if you argue FOR gay genes or homosexual hormones. It is the freedom to be whoever you want to be (as long as you don’t harm anyone) that is at stake. Not who puts his willy where or why…
what has always killed me is when gays don’t get pissed when the haters use the term “lifestyle” about gays. As if there it were buying a new car or sofa.
Even worse someone who I respect on the other side of politics Meghan McCain, despite being pro-gay recently made the statement, “being republican is not a lifestyle, you are born that way”.
“being republican is not a lifestyle, you are born that way”.
Well, She sure was.
