I was discussing this with a friend. In a lot of scientific research publications, there’s a section where the author must address potential biases to the research. It’s not necessarily a good/bad thing, but rather just to allow critical thinking on the research. For example, a paper on a particular drug might have to say “funding for this research was provided by [Drug Company].”
Our conclusion was that all bills should have something similar. All the people who contribute should have to state any potential biases, positive or negative, that could impact how they word their legislation.
Replace senator with politician. Or any position of power, really.
